Question 1

Do Tucann swim trunks run small, big or true to size?

Accepted Answer

No. Tucann swim trunks run true to size. Across 11,419 written reviews, 1,095 say the fit is perfect or as expected, 139 say they needed to size up and 82 say size down, so the small and large reports roughly cancel out and the overwhelming majority is true to size. Order your normal waist. The one group that consistently sizes up is men with muscular thighs: the leg opening is tailored, so if your quads are big relative to your waist, order one size up and let the elasticated back waist take up the slack. Sizes run S/30 to XXL/38 waist.

Question 2

I'm a 31, 33 or 35 waist. Which Tucann size should I get?

Accepted Answer

Tucann sizes are S/30, M/32, L/34, XL/36 and XXL/38, so odd waists sit between two sizes. The review data points one way: size up if you have athletic legs, size down if you are slim through the thigh and prefer a snug fit. The waistband is elasticated at the back with a working drawstring, so the larger size still holds at the waist. If you are between sizes and unsure, take the larger one; exchanges are free in the US within 30 days.

Question 3

What is the largest size Tucann makes? Is there a 40 inch waist or 3XL?

Accepted Answer

XXL, which is a 38 inch waist, is the largest size in the current range; there is no 3XL or 40 at the time of writing. Because the waistband is elasticated at the back, several reviewers who normally wear a 39 or 40 report the XXL fitting. That is anecdotal, not a guarantee. If you are a 40 or above, order XXL only if you can use the free US exchange.

Question 4

Why is Tucann XXL only a 38 inch waist?

Accepted Answer

Tucann's sizing is a tailored European style block: S/30, M/32, L/34, XL/36, XXL/38. The labels run one step smaller than most US brands, so a man who wears XL in a US brand is usually an XXL here. Go by the waist number, not the letter. The elasticated back panel adds roughly an inch of give.

Question 5

Does Tucann make XS or a 28 inch waist in men's trunks?

Accepted Answer

Not in men's swim trunks; S/30 is the smallest. The drawstring and elasticated back waist let a 29 wear the S comfortably, and a handful of reviews from slim men confirm that. XS exists in some apparel and in women's swimwear. For boys there is a kids range from 2 to 12 years.

Question 6

How do I read the Tucann size chart (inseam, outseam, hem)?

Accepted Answer

Inseam is the length of the inner leg seam from crotch to hem: 3, 5 or 7 inches. Outseam is measured from the top of the waistband down the side to the hem, so it is the inseam plus the rise. Hem width is the opening at the leg, laid flat. Pick your size by waist first, then choose the inseam by how much leg you want to show; the fit through the seat and thigh is identical across all three lengths.

Question 7

Does the Tucann waistband stretch?

Accepted Answer

Yes at the back. The front of the waistband is flat and tailored so it sits like a pair of shorts; the back panel is elasticated and there is a functional drawstring with metal aglets. Reviews describe this as the reason the trunks stay put when wet without feeling like a swimming costume. It also gives about an inch of tolerance if you are between sizes.

Question 8

Do Tucann trunks fit men with big thighs? How wide is the leg opening?

Accepted Answer

They fit, but you will probably need to size up. 70 reviews mention thighs or an athletic build and this is the one group where Tucann's five star rate drops (from 93.2% to about 78%). Almost every complaint is a man who ordered his usual size and found the leg opening tight. Order one size up and the problem disappears; the elasticated back waist handles the extra room. The 5 inch has more room than the 3 inch.

Question 9

Do Tucann swim trunks work for tall men, 6 foot 4 and over?

Accepted Answer

Yes, with the 7 inch inseam. Reviews from men over 6 foot 2 split between 5 and 7 inch; above 6 foot 4 the 7 inch is the safe choice and the 5 inch reads very short. The only recurring complaint from tall customers is that there is no 9 inch option. Nobody in the archive reports problems with the rise or the waist.

Question 10

Are Tucann trunks flattering on older men or with a bigger belly?

Accepted Answer

The reviews say yes, and the 5 inch is the length they choose. The flat front waistband sits at the natural waist rather than cutting under the stomach, and the tailored leg reads as shorts rather than swimwear. Customers in their fifties and sixties are well represented in the photo reviews. Order by your true waist measurement, not the size you wish you were; the elastic back does the rest.

Question 11

Do Tucann Luxe shorts fit the same as the drawstring swim trunks?

Accepted Answer

Same size block, S/30 to XXL/38, and the same tailored leg, so choose the size you take in the standard trunks. The Luxe range is a resort style with a different waistband construction, so if you rely on the drawstring for a between-sizes fit, check the product page size chart before ordering.

Question 12

Is the rise low on the Tucann 3 inch trunks?

Accepted Answer

The rise is the same across the 3, 5 and 7 inch; only the leg length changes. The 3 inch looks lower because there is so little leg below it. Reviews of the 3 inch describe it as sitting at the natural waist. If you want a higher looking cut, the 5 inch gives that impression without changing the actual rise.

Question 13

Should I get the Tucann 3, 5 or 7 inch inseam?

Accepted Answer

5 inch if you are unsure: it is the most reviewed length (5,811 reviews) and works from beach to restaurant. 3 inch is the shortest, most European look and the most popular for the gym and swimming. 7 inch sits just above the knee and is the choice for men over 6 foot 2 or anyone who prefers more cover. Ratings are almost identical across the three, so this is taste and height, not quality.

Question 14

Does every Tucann print come in 3, 5 and 7 inch?

Accepted Answer

Most core prints do, but not all. New releases often launch in 5 inch first, and some limited prints only ever came in one or two lengths. The quickest check is the product page on tucann.com: each length is a separate product, and the review pages here link to every length that is currently listed. If the length you want is missing, it is either sold out or was never made in that inseam.

Question 15

Does Tucann make longer swim trunks, 9 or 10 inch?

Accepted Answer

No. 7 inch is the longest inseam in the range. It sits just above the knee on most men and is the standard choice for tall customers. If you want knee length or below, Tucann does not currently make it.

Question 16

How long are Tucann trunks from waist to hem?

Accepted Answer

The inseam (3, 5 or 7 inches) is the inner leg. Add the rise to get the outseam, the measurement most people picture when they think about length. The product page size chart on tucann.com lists the outseam for each size and length. As a rule of thumb the 5 inch sits mid thigh on a 5 foot 10 man and the 7 inch just above the knee.

Question 17

Do Tucann swim trunks have a liner, and what kind?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every pair has a built in compression liner, the Aqua Liner: a soft, stretchy inner short made of swim fabric, not mesh netting. It gives brief level support, dries as fast as the shell and is the single most praised feature in the archive (3.5% of written reviews mention it). No underwear is needed.

Question 18

Can I buy Tucann trunks without the compression liner?

Accepted Answer

No, the liner is built into every pair of swim trunks. A small number of customers cut it out to wear their own brief underneath; the liner is stitched at the waistband and can be removed, but that voids any exchange. Tucann's activewear and hybrid shorts have different constructions if you specifically want an unlined short.

Question 19

Does the Tucann compression liner have a pouch?

Accepted Answer

It is a compression short cut rather than a contoured pouch brief. Reviews describe the support as similar to athletic compression underwear: everything held in place without seams pressing anywhere. Customers who are used to a pouch style brief generally report no issue after the first wear.

Question 20

What colour is the compression liner in Tucann trunks?

Accepted Answer

It matches the trunks as closely as the fabric allows, usually the base colour of the print or black, so nothing contrasting shows at the leg. Reviews confirm the liner is invisible when worn, which is why the trunks pass as ordinary shorts.

Question 21

Will the Tucann liner chafe?

Accepted Answer

This is the complaint the liner was designed to remove. Out of 11,419 written reviews, 50 mention chafing at all, and most of those are customers saying it stopped when they switched from mesh lined trunks. The liner is smooth swim fabric with flat seams; there is no netting to rub.

Question 22

Do Tucann trunks balloon up with air in the pool?

Accepted Answer

No. Ballooning happens when a loose shell traps air over a mesh liner. Tucann's shell is a tailored, four way stretch fabric and the liner is fitted, so there is no air pocket to fill. Several reviewers moving from mesh lined trunks call this out specifically.

Question 23

Why does the Tucann liner hang lower than the shorts?

Accepted Answer

It should not when worn. On the 3 inch, the liner is cut close to the hem, so on a hanger or lying flat it can look level or slightly below. On the body the liner sits inside the leg. If it is visibly below the hem when you are wearing them, the trunks are a size too big or the pair is faulty; contact Tucann support with a photo.

Question 24

What material are Tucann swim trunks made of?

Accepted Answer

A nylon and spandex blend shell, chosen for four way stretch and quick drying, with prints applied by sublimation using Italian inks (the reason the colours do not sit on the surface and crack). The compression liner is a similar stretch swim fabric. Hardware is metal aglets and zips.

Question 25

Are Tucann trunks quick drying?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Quick drying is one of the most repeated points in the reviews: dry in under an hour in sun and overnight indoors. Because the liner is fabric rather than mesh, it dries at the same rate as the shell, which is what lets people go from the pool to lunch without a wet patch.

Question 26

Are Tucann trunks safe in chlorine and salt water?

Accepted Answer

Yes, they are made for it. Tucann's care guide says the fabric withstands heavily chlorinated pools and salt water; the only care asked is a fresh water rinse afterwards, a hand wash, and drying in shade. Reviewers who swim daily report colours holding over a season.

Question 27

Do Tucann swim trunks fade or bleed colour?

Accepted Answer

Fading is rare in the archive and bleeding is not reported. The prints are sublimated, meaning the dye is bonded into the fibre rather than printed on top, which is why the colour survives chlorine and salt. The fade complaints that do exist involve tumble drying or drying in direct sun, both of which the care guide tells you not to do. Rinse, hand wash, dry in shade.

Question 28

Are Tucann trunks hand wash only, or can I machine wash them?

Accepted Answer

Tucann says hand wash. The official care guide is: rinse off sand and salt, hand wash in warm water with a gentle soap, no machine wash, and dry flat in shade, never in a tumble dryer. The reason is the hardware, not the fabric: machine washing can damage the zip pockets, the rubber logo and the metal aglets. Plenty of reviewers admit to a cold, gentle machine cycle inside a laundry bag; that is their risk, not the recommendation.

Question 29

Do Tucann swim trunks shrink?

Accepted Answer

Not if you follow the care guide. Nylon spandex does not shrink in a hand wash; heat is the enemy. The very few shrinkage complaints in the archive involve a tumble dryer. Dry flat in shade and they will stay the size you bought.

Question 30

How do I get smell or mould out of swim trunks?

Accepted Answer

The cause is almost always trunks left damp in a bag. Soak in cool water with a cup of white vinegar for an hour, hand wash with a gentle soap, rinse well and dry flat in shade. Avoid bleach and hot water, which damage the liner elastic. Rinsing and hanging the same day you swim prevents it.
