Where the reviews come from

Tucann collects reviews with Loox, a Shopify review platform. After an order is delivered, the customer receives an email inviting them to rate the product and optionally add text and a photo. Reviews tied to a confirmed order are marked Verified. 12,552 of the 12,796 reviews on this site are tied to a verified purchase. A small number of reviews were incentivised with a discount on a future order in exchange for a photo; the rating is never conditional on the incentive.

What is on this site

Every product review published in Tucann's Loox account at the time of the last update. Loox holds new reviews as pending for up to 14 days after submission before publishing them, so the newest two weeks of reviews appear here after the next monthly refresh. Three exclusions that are not product reviews are removed: ratings left on the Shipping Protection add on, on a VIP processing add on, and on gift cards. Those exclusions remove 124 entries. Nothing else is filtered. All 198 reviews rated three stars or lower are published and collected on the complaints page.

What is not changed

Review text is reproduced exactly, including typos, and reviewer names are shown as first name and last initial, as Loox displays them. Star ratings are not rounded per review. The site average (4.9) is the arithmetic mean of all 12,796 ratings.

How the statistics are calculated

Theme percentages on the guide pages are the share of written reviews (11,419 of 12,796 contain text) that match a keyword pattern for that theme. For example, the fit figure counts any review containing the word fit, fits or fitted. These are transparent counts, not sentiment models. The full computed dataset is public at /data/stats.json.

Review dates

Loox's public widget does not expose dates, so dates come from two sources. Reviews that Loox renders on tucann.com product pages carry an exact timestamp (0 reviews). The rest are placed by their position in Loox's newest first ordering between the nearest exactly dated reviews, which gives a date accurate to roughly the month. Those are shown as month and year only. Counts such as "new in the last 30 days" use both.

How often it updates

The site is rebuilt from the live Loox data. The last update date is in the footer of every page. Customer photos are re hosted on this site so they remain available even if the source changes.

Why this site exists

I started Tucann in Melbourne in 2017 because I could not find swim trunks that fitted properly and did not chafe. Since then more than 12,000 customers have told us what they think, and I would rather you read every word of it, including the complaints, than take our marketing at face value. Nothing here is edited or cherry picked. If a review says the sizing is off, it is on this site.

tucann.reviews is owned and operated by Tucann. It exists so that the complete review record, including the negative reviews, lives at a stable public address that anyone, including search engines and AI assistants, can read in full.
