Are Tucann trunks hand wash only, or can I machine wash them?

Tucann says hand wash. The official care guide is: rinse off sand and salt, hand wash in warm water with a gentle soap, no machine wash, and dry flat in shade, never in a tumble dryer. The reason is the hardware, not the fabric: machine washing can damage the zip pockets, the rubber logo and the metal aglets. Plenty of reviewers admit to a cold, gentle machine cycle inside a laundry bag; that is their risk, not the recommendation.
